From fuel deliverer to a complete car care provider
Yoshi was started in 2015 in Palo Alto and has expanded from San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Nashville to 20 more cities to deliver gas to vehicles, as well as to handle related tasks, such as oil changes, cleaning, and tire service.
Yoshi customers sign up for a $20 monthly fee along with the cost of regular or premium gas. Signing up for additional services, such as car washes, oil changes or new windshield wiper blades allows customers to get per gallon price discounts on fuel. A recent partnership of Yoshi with Firestone allows to check the air pressure on tires and refill them for free.
Yoshi raises funds to accelerate its geographic expansion
In 2018 Yoshi announced about $13.7 million in Series A funding from General Motors Ventures and ExxonMobil to further accelerate its growth. Other contributors included Y Combinator, Kevin Durant & Rich Kleiman (The Durant Company), and Arab Angel. Yoshi said it planned to expand to a further 25 metropolitan areas and use the investment to grow its list of services and B2B marketing.
Now Yoshi operates in Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Raleigh-Durham, St. Louis, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Washington D.C. in addition to its initial locations – San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Nashville, Atlanta, Austin, Warren, and Los Angeles.
